Saskatchewan Hard-to-Fill Skills Immigration Pilot Program

Good news from the Province of Saskatchewan in Canada.

A new Hard-To-Fill Skills Immigration Pilot Program is available in Saskatchewan, Canada.

It will enable Saskatchewan employers to recruit workers (in low & entry-level positions) through overseas missions, or other international recruitment activities.

There is also the Saskatchewan International Healthcare Worker program. This is for those who are interested in working in Saskatchewan in the Health sector and would like to be contacted about job opportunities relevant to their skill set by the province or Health employers. The sectors with the highest labour demands in the province of Saskatchewan include health, manufacturing, agriculture, ag-tech, construction, hospitality and retail. And the Government intends to fill these labour shortages with skilled international workers.

“The demand for labour in our province is strong, and it’s only going to increase with the significant economic projects recently announced in Saskatchewan,” Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said.”

The International Skilled Worker Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot is for intermediate and low-skilled workers in eligible, high-demand occupations who:

• Have an offer for a job in Saskatchewan.
• Meet the criteria of the sub-category. 

To be eligible, applicants to the Hard-To-Fill Skills Pilot must: 

• Have at least one year work experience in the past three years (in your intended occupation); or six months full-time (780 hours) working in Saskatchewan in the job.

• Have a language score of at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4. Some employers or regulators may ask for scores that are higher than CLB 4.

• Have completed the equivalent of Canadian secondary school (high school) or higher level education. If your studies were not completed in Canada, you will need to submit an Educational Credential Assessment.

• Have an SINP-approved offer for a permanent, full-time job in Saskatchewan. You will need a valid SINP Job Approval Letter from your employer to show proof. The offer must be in one of the eligible occupations below:

*This pilot is not available to employers hiring Home Support Workers, Caregivers, and related occupations (NOC 44101) who reside in the client’s residence or their place of work. Employers seeking workers to reside in the client’s residence or their place of work must utilize Canada’s Caregiver Programs for recruitment.
